Coverings Awards "Overall Best in Show"

Chicago, april 24, 2009 – Four Coverings 2009 exhibitors were singled out for their inventive booth designs, netting the show’s annual “Best Booth” Awards.

Ceramiche Refin took home the overall top prize, impressing the judging committee with it simple but compelling communication that its products are exceptionally sustainable. The space was designed by Bolognese architect Paolo Cermasi, and to telegraph the eco-responsible characteristics of Refin’s porcelain tiles, which feature 40% recycled content, he created an open environment defined by wall panels comprised of pressed wood chips with tile insets forming a bold geometric pattern. Other natural materials were incorporated to help dramatize the message, including simple ottoman seating constructed of cardboard and a centerpiece artwork of bamboo shoots arising from a sunken pit of broken unfired porcelain fragments.
