2014 Fuorisalone

For the 2014 Salone del Mobile Ceramiche Refin will be presenting a selection of the first proposals entries received for the international contest “Create your Tile”, launched by the company for DesignTaleStudio, at the Foro Buonaparte showroom. The brand was founded in 2005 as a creative laboratory, aiming to experiment the new technical and production potential of porcelain stoneware, exploiting the variety of aesthetic peculiarities to interpret contemporary interior design trends.
Just In the two months following its launch, the contest, which ends on 30 April, is enjoying huge international success and has received hundreds of proposals from all over the world: 72% of candidates come from Europe, followed by the Americas with 11.5%, with the remaining 16.5% divided between Asia, Africa and Oceania.
Over More than 25% of the candidates are over 40, figures with a professional career under their belt: this and the other numbers are particularly important for the success of the contest, Open only to architecture and design professionals, the competition’s alming to receive graphic proposals to be produced on an industrial scale and with an innovative commercial potential.

A further confirmation of the value of this project is also the authoritative level of the panel of judges, including Jan-Carlos Kucharek, architect and journalist, editor of PIlP, sister publication upplement to the prestigious RIBAR Journal; Nils Becker, co-founder of Architonic; Max Fraser, deputy director of the London Design Festival and design writer, along with Paolo Cesana, marketing director of Ceramiche Refin, representing the company.
The highly qualified panel is led by Milan-based architects and designers Alessandro and Francesco Mendini, who have supported this project also by designing a special out-of-competition collection: FILO will be on display for the first time at the Salone, at the Refin

Studio, a preview of the range that will be launched on the market at the next Cersaie. This work is based on the traditional orthogonal grid, redesigned in a unique deformed, distorted and resized version. On a neutral base, the thin line weaves and runs through to form a chequerboard, almost a three-dimensional optical illusion, producing a geometrical yet definitely abstract effect that instantly recalls the graphic artistic movements of Op Art.

Refin Studio will be open every day during the Salone, from 10.30 am to 7.30 pm.
