Preview Cersaie 2014

Creativity first and foremost, a unique approach to design solutions and distinctive, original products. Ceramiche Refin has developed a completely new visual language for ceramics, and the 2014 edition of Cersaie will take visitors on a journey inspired by material and re-invented by ceramic technology, peppered with a spirit of renewal and a desire to amaze.

The fil rouge of the company’s new products lies in in-depth research into materials that are often original and exclusive, able to create singular atmospheres thanks to their specific characteristics.

One example is District, a collection with a decidedly multi-material soul, designed to offer a wide variety of different materials ranging from asphalts to distressed woods. The immediate, bang-up-to-date reference is to those big-city environments with their industrial archaeologies that take centre stage in the new trends and urban lifestyle of the world’s metropolis: from London to New York, taking in the dock areas of the major ports, springing back to life with renewed vigour.

So here we find ceramics with finishes reminiscent of asphalt (Road) combining with the metallic-style vintage materials that look straight out of car workshops, and the marble typical of old-style butcher’s or barber’s (Garage); distressed woods inspired by velodrome surfaces and the small bricks found on the inside walls (Track).

Teatro, meanwhile, takes its inspiration from the values linked with memories, awareness of our cultural heritage and local roots, in a particularly alluring collection inspired by the floor inside the Municipal Theatre in Modena. Actors, audiences and theatre workers thus form part of the very soul of a collection, which, by reproducing the wood found on the stage – with everything that implies for the artist – and in the foyer, captures and recalls the magic of endless evenings, creating an evocative sense of history and prestige.
